Barber’s tips for the groom

Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life. It’s also a day when you’ll be in front of the camera all day. These simple yet effective tips will help you look the best version of yourself — and feel just as great. Congratulations!

Don’t leave your haircut to the last minute

Get a haircut a few days before the big day. If you want a final touch for the groom’s look as well, visit the barber on the wedding morning for a wash and styling.

The right hair products are important: shampoo and conditioner affect both hair and scalp health. They regulate sebum production and prevent dandruff. Make sure you’re using a product line suited to you already before the wedding day — greasy hair or dandruff doesn’t belong at a wedding.

Give your beard some love before the big day

If you wear a beard, make sure it’s neatly trimmed by a professional before the wedding. A professional shapes the beard according to your facial features — when done right, a beard significantly affects your overall look.

Keep your beard in shape until the wedding by using beard oil and combing it regularly.

For grooms who prefer being clean-shaven, we recommend the traditional straight-razor shave (M Special Shave), which also includes relaxing hot towels and a facial massage.

Pay attention to your skin

The skin is the body’s largest organ, and on your wedding day it will be very much in front of the camera. Drink plenty of water even before the wedding, use a facial scrub to remove dirt and excess oil, and finish with a moisturizer. If you like, you can get blotting papers to even out facial shine throughout the long day.

Nails and small details

Many grooms stress so much about the suit, shoes and tie that they forget the simple things. Trimming and cleaning your nails doesn’t take much time — but it matters.

Also remember to ask your barber to wax nose and ear hair and tidy your eyebrows. These procedures are common at the barber, and at M Room you can choose M Wax as an add-on service already when joining the queue.

Use fragrances the right way

Aftershave disinfects the skin after shaving and is the mildest of scent types. Cologne or EdT, on the other hand, should be kept away from the face. A couple of sprays on the inside of the wrists, the neck and the chest. However, remember not to show off with your fragrance even on the celebration day, and remember a good antiperspirant to prevent sweat drops from joining the festivities.

Fun fact: some people experience strong scent memories. So it may be that, through a carefully chosen fragrance or scent combination, you can return to the atmosphere of your wedding day long after you’ve docked in the harbor of marriage.

Groom’s checklist

  • Haircut a few days in advance – not at the last minute
  • Nose and ear hair and eyebrows should be tidied at the barber
  • Entrust your beard to a professional before the wedding
  • Moisturize and exfoliate the skin and, if necessary, keep blotting papers in a side pocket to control shine
  • Nails, fragrance and antiperspirant are small details that matter
