Quick guide for beard care

Can’t get your beard to settle? We asked our barber to write a quick beard care guide that gives you solutions to the most common beard challenges.

1. Neaten your beard’s edges regularly

A well-defined beard looks tidy and flatters your face. Making edge maintenance a routine from the start is a good idea. You can have it done during a barber visit or practise a bit at home, but we recommend the first option.

2. Wash your beard with a product designed for beards

Beard hair is naturally thicker and coarser than other hair, so it needs a nourishing cleanser. Regular shampoo or soap is usually too harsh and strips the beard of its natural oils, leaving it frizzy and hard to manage.

Try a beard cleanser designed for daily use. You’ll notice and feel the difference quickly!

3. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize

Beards and the skin beneath them dry out easily—especially in winter. Dry skin is also more prone to bacterial infections. Apply a few drops of beard oil to the beard after every wash, paying special attention to the skin underneath. Oil significantly reduces itching during the growth phase and prevents the skin from flaking.

When your beard reaches a few millimetres in length, also start using beard balm. Apply it after the oil, then comb or brush the beard into shape. This smooths the beard considerably and is the secret of every well-groomed beard.

For a long, dry beard, try using both products together: same effort, double effect.

Over time you can get more particular

These three steps will take you far, as long as you give your beard time to grow and make care a routine. Later you can expand your kit with moustache and beard waxes to shape your beard and moustache as you wish or to even out differences caused by varying growth directions in a long beard.
